He was happy to j Just no He was happy to just replace her and pretend instead of being an alpha male and going after her to make her his. All they did was screw other people especially him how is this romantic at all? I cannot understand why this author even wrote this book. These people are around 30 and we are supposed to believe their childhood love is real?

Even if it was the guy is a weak douche. Why would I want that for my hero. He even screwed the girl who bullied and humiliated the heroine in high school. There was just nothing to root for in this book View 1 comment. I should not have spent time reading this, but we know my brain parts aren't really into reading so that's my excuse. But I shan't make you read a review, not make myself write a review. But I will say her favorite wine is "Pino. Oh, and he's super creepy initially. Just avoid this. View all 3 comments. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, . AND I have to ask myself why this twist on the trope is so bloody common??? WTF people? Why would I root for an H who is so indiscriminate with his dick, and has so little compassion for the h that he would even give the hag, who abuses her, the time of day??

WT ever loving F is romantic about that? And how can the h and the reader ever scrub that memory preserved forever on the internet in this story! It's not possible, so just don't go there. I'd rather read about the H crapping on a plate and eating it, cause that's essentially what he did anyways.

Honestly, the whole premise was as thin as cellophane. I have a lot of thoughts on this so let's get started. The whole idea of the book is that the children of a gaming company are forced to get married to appease the apparently born in the s owner of another tech company. Harley and Nate have been friends since they were born.

Both have been in love with each other but neither ever admitted it. Wanting distance from her feelings, Harley moved across the country. When a scandal breaks about Nate There were pics of him having sex with someone. Whoopy-freaking-doo the investors in their company threatens to pull out.

Everyone comments that the girl kinda looks like Harley and so their d come up with a brilliant plan to pretend it was his soon to be wife. Because I guess having public sex is okay as long as it's your finance? So, this could have been good but there were several gigantic issues.

For one, every one of their friend and fam knows about the fake marriage. The only person who doesn't is the investors. Harley has a boyfriend at the time and actually leaves their date to go home per her father's request then has to break up with him over the phone after she agrees to marry Nate. And her boyfriend just goes with it?

Like he never comes forward to announce they were together at the same time as Nate's photos were taken. And Harley's reason for being pissed? The girl he slept with was mean to her in HS. Oh, but wait there are more plotholes. Nate says at the beginning he doesn't even know who took the photos but then at the end says he knew it was the chick he slept with.

The whole investor drama at the end. Everyone's flip-floppy comments about the marriage being fake but not really. On top of all this, the pacing was so off. Nate is always clear in his chapters that he loves her, but Harley goes from avoiding and hating him to loving him in ONE chapter.

Then they are all in love and of course, fooling around because we HAVE to have that in a romance book even if it fits like a warped puzzle piece. I literally could go on and on. I have no idea how I even finished this which is sad because I love this trope. PS can we stop letting out breaths we didn't know we were holding? That saying died somewhere in the mids. This is probably the best book I have read in a long time!

The chemistry and banter between the two main characters was amazing! The length of the book was perfect as it allowed for a fulsome story to be told. There was a good mix of a new relationship developing without having to rely too much on the relationship the two main characters had in the past. I loved Harley and Nate and their quick wit and comebacks. You could truly feel the love between the two of them. I'm so happy that they were a This is probably the best book I have read in a long time!

I'm so happy that they were able to overcome their issues and make it work after so many years of wanting to be with the other person and keeping it a secret. This book made me fall in love with all the secondary characters and the universe this book was set in and I can't wait to see what is next! Apr 17, Angela rated it it was amazing. What I enjoyed the most, aside from the whole thing, is the real feel of romance and frustration between Nate and Harley. Passions and intense feelings are definitely there, right from the very first I. The mixture of learning about the past and how their relationship started and the possibility of a future worked well to challenge not only the main characters but those who share the spotlight with them Jules and Reid just to name a set who very much have a story to be told.
