As a Scranton native, I am passionate about providing mental health and wellness services to the area. In and outside of therapy, I strive to help people recognize their strengths, feel empowered, and live fulfilling lives. I believe that quality therapeutic and mental health education services are crucial to the health and wellbeing of any community, and I'm thrilled to be able to provide those services to our community. Outside of my practice, most of my time is happily spent with family and friends.
I also love reading, listening to music especially live and enjoying local restaurants. Easily predicted from the theme of this website -- my favorite way to de-stress is to get out and enjoy nature. I graduated magna cum laude from Temple University's honors program go owls! In recent years I have taught undergraduate and graduate- level courses at several universities. The courses I have taught have been mostly related to providing psychotherapy, clinical supervision and consultation. Having taught these courses, I have been able to stay up-to-date on current research and the best practices to most ideally support my therapy clients.
Since opening my practice in , I have made it a priority to continue educating myself by regularly attending conferences and trainings and consulting monthly with other psychologists. Prior to opening my practice, I completed my doctoral internship accredited by the American Psychological Association and postdoctoral residency at Lehigh University's Counseling Center.
There, I provided assessment, individual therapy, and group therapy services to a diverse array of bright, motivated college students. I particularly focused on addressing issues like eating disorders and sexual assaults on campus, as well as group therapy and supporting international students. Additionally, I provided consultation and preventative programs to the university community. I also worked as a liaison to the Women's Center on campus, where we provided workshops and group sessions on body image, eating disorders, feminism, and improving relationships.
I also have experience in several other university counseling centers as well as in community mental health centers, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and an agency where I worked with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. I have helped clients address a wide variety of concerns , including:. In addition, I have worked with many clients who do not identify with the above concerns, but are seeking therapy to work toward self-understanding, self-improvement, or improvement of their relationships. Through my work in community settings and university counseling centers, I have seen how important adolescence and young adulthood are in the developmental process.
It's when you learn to take care of yourself, cope with stress, and create meaningful relationships. With all of that learning happening, life can get really stressful - especially when you're trying to balance school or career aspirations, romantic relationships, friendships, and family.
I have been providing psychotherapy to young people since , have taught courses on psychological and social development, and received intensive training in working with this age group. I am enthusiastic about helping teens and young adults deal with tough issues, get back to being themselves, and connect with others. Specializing in the area of girls' and women's issues means that I am sensitive to, experienced, and well-educated in many of the issues that deeply impact girls and women, including but not limited to: unhealthy relationship patterns, self-esteem issues, body image concerns, disordered eating, sexual assault and gender violence, and the impact of culture and gender roles on how we feel about ourselves and navigate the world.
I have provided workshops, large presentations, small group discussions, and one-on-one guidance on eating disorders and the other issues mentioned above. There is always more to learn in this important field, and I attend multiple conferences and trainings on these topics each year. Given our current cultural climate, many of these topics feel inescapable and ever-present right now, and I am passionate about helping women navigate these issues in an empowered way.
